The following statistics for Tasmanian registered relationships were made available by the State Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages on 24.4.07

Total number of relationships registered = 81

Number of significant relationships registered = 80

Number of caring relationships registered = 1

Same sex couples registered = 62
- Female-female couples registered = 29
- Male-male couples = 33

Couples of opposite sex registered = 18

Number of revocations of relationship registered = 4 (1 male-male couple and 3 female-female couples)

NB: the number of registered relationships in Tasmania is proportional to the number of civil unions currently registered in New Zealand. In New Zealand, with a population approximately ten times that of Tasmania, there have been about 850 civil unions.
